About Us

PleasanTime Child Care Center, Inc. was a dream of two best friends to share their combined knowledge, experience, education and passion to make a difference in the lives of children. In 1992 Cambridge School District was completing a needs assessment as a request for the growing need for child care in the community. We explored our options and began to care for 8 children in a small home on Pleasant Street.  When the needs assessment was complete we put in a bid for the opportunity to serve the Cambridge community.

Our first expansion was to 25 children at the location of a small building used for Kindergarten located behind the Elementary School on South Street. In 1993 we had the opportunity to expand to a new building located at our current location 725 W. Water Street and our license grew to 48 children. The small building was converted into the before and after school program and the infant – preschool moved to the new location.  In 1998 we faced a new change . . . the elementary school was going to be remodeled and turned into a middle school and the small building would be removed in the process. The elementary was going to have a new home in Cambridge. We were excited that across the street on Water Street was one of the proposed sites. When the approval was official we were overjoyed to have the school right across the street. Due to the construction our school age program re-located temporarily to the basement of St. Piux Catholic Church and the children were bussed to the location until the school was complete. The school age program was moved again to a classroom on the end of the 5th grade wing. This was a small space which caped our enrollment to 18. The school age need rose and in 1999 we made the decision to expand our current building to accommodate the need. In August 2000 the expansion was complete and our license grew to the capacity of 84 children.

It has been a humbling journey and our mission is to continue to give back to the community through our local contributions of using local business for our bank, grocery store, gas, hair salon, pharmacy and local shops. We also give back by giving a scholarship to a Cambridge High School Senior who attended PleasanTime and will pursue a degree in an education related field.    ~  Jacquelyn Ward | Owner & Administrator
